OUT OF THE BLUE INTO THE BLACK
This title is about my emotion when I realized that my grandmother is going to die.
I choose the word 'BLUE' in stead of sadness and the word 'BLACK' is It even more sad when she was really gone.

In scientific theory, death is an evolution of living organisms without emotional relevance.
On the other hand, from viewpoint of artists, death involves sorrow, lamentation, isolation and fear.
This collection aims to visualize the death of my grandmother, based on the artistic perception of death. Inspired by an expressionism artist, Francis Bacon, the artist's approach and drawing techniques employed to express his suffer from his lover's death and melancholic memories are studied and reinterpreted with my grandmother's departure. Initial ideas derive from an observation and my memories about my grandmother during the end of her life.
Her slowly shrunk and weakened body is translated into the idea of gradual decomposition in clothes, featuring partially incomplete clothing structure and distorted construction. Oversized clothing items shrunken by draping creates voluminous silhouettes, along with lineal patterns that are developed from wrinkles on the body. Monochromic colour emotionally express my grief and sorrow for my grandmother's death. Meanwhile, my drawings of my grandmother are developed into surface techniques design, representing a tribute to her.

The details of LOOK1
Every garment is using distorted techniques to create a new silhoutte.
There are every meaning in
each look by silhouette and colour.
FRANCIS BACON was an Irish figurative painter, whose unique expressionist style of painting.

is one of a series of so-called 'black triptychs'
He painted in memory of his dead lover.
This is inspired me to do this collection about my grandmother.
About the human body when getting older.
As a result, bones and skin naturally change.
Drawing techniques employed
to express the 3 ideas of
this collection.
First idea is DECAY that
using rope to sew on
clothes and drawing
about the wrinkled skin
After this change I want to PAUSE(second idea) everything because I realize that my grandmother was going away from me. For the second idea I'm using drawing techniques to record memories applying the principles of artistic expressionism and Francis Bacon's concept.
Subsequent I PAUSE while everything is falling apart, then What will be left? This lead to the third idea called REMAINDER.
Under this idea nothing is the same again, only leavings.

The third idea REMAINDER was used in silhouette part and every ideas was conveyed in BLACK & WHITE.
BLACK
BLACK is used to represent the value of
the body that has not disappeared.
There is a technique for stitching strings
onto fabric to create distorted silhouette.
Like when the leaves are dying they will dry, twist into a spiral.
WHITE
In this collection,
the gradient from black in
the first look then
gradually reduced to white
at the last look.
WHITE was represented
as the missing things.
Experimenting to find new silhoutte by using principles from the concept.
